Coal River Mountain Watch relies on our dedicated team of volunteers to make our current projects happen. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities, including short-term and long-term, part-time and full-time, and from the Coal River Valley and from afar.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work on environmental justice issues while learning organizing skills from a variety of projects, tasks, and interactions. Through the firsthand experiences of working within community, volunteers can gain valuable skills, meaningful connections, and experience working with a grassroots nonprofit.
On-site volunteers have the opportunity to stay in our volunteer housing in the Judy Bonds Center for Appalachian Preservation in Naoma, WV. The CRMW Volunteer Program is an exciting and engaging live, work, and play experience in Southern West Virginia. Volunteers and interns live together in the spacious apartments above our office. Living with other housemates, volunteers also receive a crash course in living together; including shared group meals, shared living and sleeping space, and getting to know each other personally as well as professionally.
If you're interested in volunteering with us, don't hesitate to get in touch with us by email, coalriver(at)crmw(dot)net, or by calling the office at (304)854-2182(304)854-2182.
We also have Research Internships available for motivated and qualified research students.
